What a pal, how could I refuse.

I also have an "Old Model" Super Blackhawk with Black Walnut grips I made for it; use to deer hunt with it. Then there is the Model 29 in presentation case...:licking:

They are neat old guns, we bought a Huntsman first then my wife saw the Woodsman Match Target and the Huntsman was history.

We have similar tastes, I gave my old counter bored Model 17 to my son several years ago, smooth as glass and very accurate. I had put a set of grips I had finished to fit my hand on it, but in a moment of weakness many years ago sold it to a friend. He kept it for a few years and got tired of me trying to buy it back and traded it to me for a shotgun; now he brings is wishing he kept it. I looked at some newer models and didn't care for them. I have a Marlin 39A Golden Mountie Carbine my brother bought for me in 1962.

My dad had a huntsman that had Eliason adjustable sights put on it, I don't think they came that way, It was my first .22 pistol that I was turned loose with when I was 13. I have fond memories of the pistol. And as for the Marlin 39A.. That brings back many memories too.. I just wish I had some of those old guns, but they are long gone. TripleR you sure have a nice collection of oldies but goodies. I sure hope who you pass them down to will appreciate them as you do.

Yeah the Huntsman we bought new had fixed sights. It was a nice gun, but when my wife saw the Match Target with the adjustable sights and heavy barrel, it was doomed. My wife is right handed but left eye dominant and I was teaching her to shoot and she wasn't doing well with my guns as she also liked an angled grip like on the Colts, Riger semi autos and Lugers while I like the 1911 angle. No one in our family can hit anything with one of her guns.

Her "unique" sighting is one of the reasons we have so many guns.

I know what you mean about missing some long gone guns. To help pay my way through college, I sporterized some Mausers. I kept a couple of the best, but ran low on money and had to turn them loose, sold two Ruger .44 carbines as well as two Marlin 1894 in .44 Magnum, S&W 27 and 28 Highway Patrolman and ...

I have already given my kids some guns and if I don't keel over suddenly as my wife and I get less able to use them we will turn all but a couple over to them. I gave my Harley to my youngest son this spring; want someone to get some enjoyment out of what we have managed to accumulate.

Do they still make the 410/22lr combo guns? You see some older ones, but I have not seen a new one in a long time.

My son has a Rossi 22LR/20ga combo gun, bought it about 3 years ago. It works fine, but the 20ga is a real mulekicker in a gun that light.....

For an all-around ranch gun, I'm partial to lever-action carbines.

I bought a Savage combo gun in 223 Rem and 20 Gauge. Put a 3x9 scope on it. Seems to shoot pretty good....and its HEAVY as a rock. It makes a good all-purpose gun for a barn gun or truck gun....but multi purpose guns are not great at any one thing. I seldom use it....and it's become a safe queen.

My lever action 94 Marlins in pistol cartridges (38/357 and 44 mag) get taken along for all around use around our land. The pistol rounds have plenty of punch and these guns are accurate, super handy weight and size, and keep plenty of ammo at the ready. Minimal recoil for any shooter too! We keep the magazine loaded on an empty chamber and it doesn't take long to lever a round into the chamber and dispatch a round. Perfect for ranch and farm use IMO.

What about the safe to keep them all in?

This one is holds about 30 long guns with plenty of shelving for pistols, ammo and other goodies. It wasn't top of the line, but has 1.5 hour fire protection and weighs upwards of half ton or so. I have it set up with a light kit that comes on when it's opened.

Sorry no peeking inside.

I have had it for 10 years, and it was around a grand when I bought it on sale from my lock smith.

A very big, very heavy fire resistant one in the finished basement and a smaller one in another place. They are expensive, but well worth it.

I've always hated the idea that an intruder could find my gun, and shoot me with it. I like gun safes, they eliminate that problem.
I also have a quick access box for my house gun.
