This is the most knowledgeable tractor site I know of, bar none!! Therefore, I pose the following question.

Is the single center BX FEL hyd cyl as good as one on each side of the bucket? I believe the new subs (JD & Kioti) use two cylinders. It seems to me that the BX FEL would be subject to twisting when digging on the corners. Is this the case or am I over-reacting?

I can't wait to get my hands on the BX (this spring) but I see that one cylinder as a negative. Please convince me that this concern is not justified. Thanx for your replies!!

So far haven't noticed a problem, dug mud, gravel and moved 24' long 6x8's and the only thing I hade to remember was to keep weight on the rear. Just have to remind myself its not a monster tractor. If i'm doing real nasty things I barrow the neighbors case crawler or my other cronies 580 back hoe. But it does do things that I shouldn't have it do!

Cheers
Tony

I don't. I don't know how they decide whether to use one or two, but look at how many of the really big rigs only use one cylinder in the center. And I don't know what advantages vs. disadvantages one method has over the other, but I've just never seen any reason to be concerned about it, if the one cylinder in the right size and capability.

It is true that the big rigs use one cyl, but if you notice the geometry works so that the cylinder is pushing when curling the bucket back.
My neighbor just bought a Yanmar with a loader with a single cyl for the bucket. What a disaster. the bucket is bent, ripped in the middle and the point where it hooks on the loader is ripped off. I will be welding on it soon and will take some pics. I think that the loader was built by an outfit that get the grey tractors and fits them with these. It looks like a kid in grade school designed it. No grease fittings on the cylinder ends and well, must I go on.
Look it over good, if the bucket is not reinforced where the cyl attaches, and I don't mean a couple of angleirons up the back with a hole for the cyl.
With the 5300 I have I connected the two sides together. It has the quick detach bucket and with tow cyls it would flex when digging with one corner as the cyl on the other side was pulling just as hard as the one digging. Is a lot more ridgid and works well, also keeps the sides aligned when changing tools up front.

Hi RD:

I have a 440 loader on my Deere with Qtach. It does seem like it would work better if it were welded.
So how about some pictures.

Thanks PJR

Here you go. The rectangular tubing is 2X4 3/16 wall. Haven't had any problems with this layout.
Something else that may be handy for you, is the short extention, it just locks into place without the aid of bolts or pins. It is probably overkill for most folks, but I like to keep things away from the front of the tractor, and it is handy when I need the extra reach when loadeing the tiller or onother emplement on the back of the truck.

Thanks RD

I can see how the tubing ties every thing together. I wonder why Deere did'nt do that.

Now what about the extension that does not bolt or pin? I have front forks is that what you mean?

RD:

I guess I should wait more than 2min to ask another question.

P.S. It still looks sunny, you should only post pictures when it is cloudy, or get a gray back drop, we don't need more people moving here.

Thanks Pat

JeepOne,

The single cylinder on the BX loader works just fine. I have not had a problem with mine and if there were a problem with them I'm sure there would be a lot of post on TBN about it. Don't let it concern you. The BX is a great little tractor and anyone that buys one should get many years of enjoyment from it. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
