Single bottom plow, breaking shear pins like it's my job

I just read this thread...I'm glad you found the answer..ie. "get a bigger hammer"...however, looking at your pic (the one with the beautiful Eng. Setter), it looks like you may have been a little overzealous with the width of the plow in relation to the how you have it set up behind the tractor...(ie. looks like the plow maybe needs to be adjusted toward the furrow tire about 3 or so more inches...also did you adjust the level of the plow using about an 8" lift on the non furrow rear wheel? Okay..now, if you want to really get this done good, rake/disk the plowed field, (get it somewhat level).. and replow it at a 90 degree angle..it'll make all the difference in the world...PS: I was raised in the 50s/60s on an 8N Ford and used a Dearborn "Economy" 2 bottom plow on many 10 acre fields.. I've now got a Dearborn 10-8 2btm and a Dearborn 1 bottom plow just sittin' in the weeds, as I also have a 1 btm 16" 1pt fasthitch plow for my '74 Farmall 140. Good luck..I know you're gonna love it now that you have your plow "fixed".
