SIMPLICITY LAWN TRACTOR

I HAVE A SIMPLICITY LAWN TRACTOR WITH A 16 H.P.BRIGGS & STRATTON MOTOR. I GET SPARK, BUT WHEN THE PLUG IS OUT THE MOTOR WILL TURN TURN FREELY. WHEN THE PLUG IS IN THE MOTOR IT WILL TURN OVER A FEW TIMES AND THE MOTOR STOPS TURNING. I WAS USING JUMPER CABLES CONNECTED DIRECT TO THE STARTER W/O A BATTERY. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT MATTERS. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL ADVICE. THANKS JERRY

If you are sure the battery you are using is good, then I would remove the starter & have
it checked.

If your hearing a clicking sound and the motor not turning you may have dirty batery post also starter post,just clean them up real good.

Maybe the battery to weak and time to replace,to be on the safe side I would have the battery check out.
