Signs of Spring

   / Signs of Spring #32
Eighty degrees today. Out working in a tee shirt and shorts. Long term weather is not below 44* for the rest of the month and I'm at 3,500 MSL.

Peach trees bloomed about 2 weeks ago and grass is completely green.

I may be bragging now, but wait until summer when it's 110+![/QUOTE]

I brag about that too, since it means I am in an area that doesn't have to plow snow, and live with the miserable cold winter temps!

Ice and snow here again tonight, more school closings!

My plum trees are budding, but they are calling for sleet tonight and tomorrow with Saturdays high in the low 60's. I need to plant potato and onions Saturday if its not too wet.

Well we had 1" of sleet and 3-4" of heavy wet snow last night. No planting of taters and onions this weekend:mad:

I did a few laps around the parking lot this morning when I first got to work. The Tulip tree is showing signs of life. As is the Bradford pear. The little white blooms {breaking through the leaves and pinestraw} are on some kind of weed. As I was walking near the swamp, I heard falling water. It had been a while since I had checked out the beaver pond, so I braved the woods. Saw this little water lily on one of the little branches coming off the pond. It won't be long until the Magnolia does something.

The first hummingbird of the year. Saw it while my boss and I were sitting on the screened in porch. It flew off, but I got my camera anyway. A few minutes later it came back for another drink.

Saw our first Hummingbird yesterday, so put the feeders out. Fruit trees are budding, they started about 2 weeks ago, but then we had that freak cold front (14* with 0^ wind chill) Look to have survived with minimal loss. It would be greener if we had some rain, which should happen today. We are over a 5" deficit for the year so far.
