Even after plowing 8" of snow this past Wednesday I know spring is coming. I have seen posts on this in the past and the signs are not the same for different areas of the country. Around here the vultures are the first sign of spring. I started seeing more vultures last week. Next are the spring peepers. Haven't heard the spring peepers yet. What are your signs of spring?

So long now I've been out
In the rain and snow
But winter's come and gone
A little bird told me so

Wold plums have been flowering here for a couple of weeks, noticed some pear trees in town at full bloom.

Hardwoods are "sewlling" at the tips and my blackberry and rose bushes have good leaf growth.

Yup sap is flowing, sugar house boiling, warmer now. Day temps above freezing...thawed ground when I went to plow snow yesterday, Greenhouse is running.

Crocus in bloom now, bluebirds selecting their nest boxes now, and the farm diesel deliveryman leaving soon with my money.

In March? When do you quit mowing grass?

Sometime in November usually. However.....in summer (July/August).....grass turns brown and goes dormant.....can get by with mowing about every couple weeks. We never water the grass here.....but....we do get 90 to 100 inches of rain per year. We have lots of green and it's almost impossible to kill a plant unless you cut it down or use poison. :drink:

YAY SPRING IS COMING. I'm so excited. I can finally go outside without freezing my bum off. lol

My 25th Birthday was yesterday and I got the best present on that day. It was a warm 61F. I was wishing for a warm day on my birthday and I got it. (My dad did get me a new Toshiba Satellite Laptop for my birthday and you'd think that would be the best present. .lol) Don't get me wrong, I do love the laptop and it's a fantastic present, but after me freezing every time I go outside, the warm weather get's the best present title.

A spot of grass in front of my parents mobile home stayed green all year, even though it was never watered, and was really dry out. And no pipes leaking there as there's no pipes in that area.

Rest of the grass stayed brown.

I do notice some of the trees budding out finally. The snow's all gone for now. Though we have a 30% chance of the snow tomorrow. I don't think we'll get much if we do though.

I finally got my truck unstuck from the snow/yard about a week ago with my dads tow truck. And even the tow truck was trying to get stuck in the snow.

My yard is pretty much a muddy mess with trenches that (my truck tires as well as my dads tow trucks tires dug) all over the place.

As I was getting diesel the other night, preparing for last weeks snow storm, I heard a few peepers.

Tomorrow the days will get one hour longer. Seriously many of the trees are budding.

The diving beetles are hunting in the pool and the polliwogs are movin' around.
Should hear the first peepers in a week or so.

Snowdrops and Crocus are in bloom and yesterday I mowed the front and back lawn. We have had a mild winter and I can see the pollen from the Alder trees will be coming in the next week or two. Garlic plants are up 2-4 inches and while spring is not here yet it looks pretty close.
Robins are here and the frogs are noisy. :):)

It was 31 degrees this morning, but now it is 65 degrees. My Wife just came in from reading a book on the front deck. She was out there over an hour and our inside dog was sleeping next to her.

Still have a foot of hard packed snow on the ground. It'll be a week of 50 degree days before it'll be gone. Even the buds on the maples haven't started growing yet. No spring here yet.
