It is oddly ironic that you don't seem to know what pedantic means:

Definition of pedantic (adjective)
emphasizing minutiae or form in scholarship or teaching; strict; meticulous

Examples of pedantic
Professor Dateacha's lectures were so pedantic that his students sometimes had a tough time understanding the big picture.

A Pedant is a person who overrates or overuses book learning or pure technical knowledge. Such a person values simple knowledge, (in the form of often obscure facts and rules) over common sense and more general knowledge.

Example Pedant: Dateacha

I guess humor is the hardest thing to communicate via this medium. See, there is this thing called a pendulum that swings back and forth, so "pedantic" reminded me of pendulum. One of the ways I keep the kids focused is to constantly make stupid jokes and puns and since I'm pretty much in school mindset throughout the academic year, I just had to try to make a joke about...

Well, you get the idea. It was a lousy pun, and puns are generally lousy jokes anyways.

Anyways, do you know why teaching science is like eating lobster?

Details are de best part. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Therefore, us science teachers tend to seem somewhat pedantic to other people. It drives my wife nuts sometimes, and other times she loves me more for it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I can see you take your work home with you.

I have a cousin who taught 2nd grade for 25 years... Talk to her today and you'd swear you were talking to a 6 year-old.

I manage a herd of whining salespeople from all of the world and spend a big part of my time fighting with insane internal process, warring attorneys and cheapskate financial people.

I take my work home with me as well, so end up being a hardass all the time as a result.

Sounds like you need a pile of hickory logs and an 8 lb splitting maul. It works wonders on those days when you want to hit someone.

I used to teach in the inner city in Michigan but lived in the boonies. Some days I'd come home, pick up the Model 12 and a couple boxes of shells and go out and bust cans and clays for a while. That was pretty theraputic, too. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
