never tried a hst but the shuttle on my dk35 is very smooth and and you do have to push the clutch but you don't have to come to a complete stop. so it's like when you shift your car's auto into foward before coming to a stop when backing. i have shifted it without using the clutch but you have to be real careful or grind plus the dealer don't recommend it.
