is something that size still self supporting or do you supplement the intersections with T posts?

It is self supporting. It takes two men to carry one panel. They are very heavy.

Here are some photos of my round pen. It began as a 50' galvanized panel pen. I then attached cedar slabs to the outside of the pen. This helps keep the horses attention on what's going on inside the pen, rather than outside. After installing the cedar slabs, I built an elevated observation deck.

The cedar round pen goes with the theme of the rest of my property. Here are a couple more shots around my place.

Wow! You have really done a great job here! What type of horses to you raise? Your round pen looks like an arena! Very nice!

Thanks for the compliments. I just made use of some "scrap" from the cedar sawmill. The large chicken coop is almost entirely made of scrap lumber, scrap tin for the roof, and cedar slabs from the mill...

I have always had using type quarter horses, however my wife showed saddleseat horses all over the country,Saddlebred / Hackney / Arabian. We only have a couple of her old show horses left, and now concentrate on our using horses for ranch work, hog hunting, and team roping as well as our youngest daughters western pleasure horse.

I'll go ahead and post of a few more photos... I like seeing pictures, and just assume y'all might as well.

This is our riding arena that I put in.

Here are a couple of our horses. The bay horse on the right has become my primary mount. The sorrel to the left is my wife's ranch versatility prospect.

This photo shows my daughters horses, the taller one is a western pleasure horse that is 2 points away from his superior, and the smaller mare to the far right is my oldest daughters using horse.

Besides horses, our other passion involves our dogs, Aussies for around our place moving cattle, and working sheep.

It is clear that you are a blessed family! It's obvious God is actively working in your life! Nice arena! Your horse reminds me of Dash for Cash and Doc O'lena.

These are my Hog Dogs - we use to round up rouge cows. They are Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dogs.

This is my Mare off Dash.

This Paint is my Daughters.

Nice looking dogs, I am partial to the black and tan catahoulas. The black dog in my pic is 1/2 cat, making her daughter to the left 1/4 cat. I just run my cur dogs on hogs, but did recently ship a couple black and tan 1/2 cats to Missouri, I had started them on cattle, but they had too much range for the smaller properties I run on.

Nice looking horses too!

Back to the original post... I'll see if I can dig up the photos of a round pen a friend built. He is an Amish fella, and really takes pride in his work. He built a solid cedar round pen and beam style barn for a man near Austin, TX. Neatest facilities I have seen, especially considering he built it by hand, by himself, with minimal tools.

This isn't my round pen, but it fits with the assumed theme of the thread. I saw it yesterday while on a ride for 4H. I'd seen this thread, so the round pen caught my attention. It's made out of the same stuff they make quanset barns out of. They just laid the pieces on their side and used enough to make a full circle.

It seems like it would be a great round pen. It's sturdy. It's opaque so it keeps the horse's attention on the trainer. It's made of readily sourced materials. And, it will last a long time.
