Should I use conventional oil, or synthetic oil in my tractor.

Williy/Willy, Mostly an ezvid promotion. Some very general description of the various lubes. No data sheets that I noticed. No explanation for the rankings. The linked article puts Motul 8100 first and Shell T6 second. However, The video included puts Castrol C3 first and Shell T6 fourth. Best to consult your owners manual and use your favourite brand with the correct specs listed there in…

Mostly BS.

Sure, synthetic oil may be slightly "better" for your engine once it is broken in. But there are too many old tractors out there like my 60 year old John Deere that have NEVER had synthetic oil in them and are still running fine.

How long do you intend to keep/run your tractor?

True, but I’ve noticed in my diesel truck that the engine starts better and sounds better in cold weather. I also get a little better MPGs (not that MPGs matters with a tractor).

I would trust the 540 RAT before I would
trust a bias institute! https://pqia.org/resource-center/ < probably the worst place to look for info.
Does a institute get paid by the big oil companies as a grant? or some other form of payment ?

It's ok your choice. I personally think 540 rat does tests on oil that have little relevance to the forces that actually occur in IC engines.

At least the last time I looked at his blog he did a lot of comparisons with the 4 ball wear test. I think there is a reason that the four ball test doesn't take place in standardized engine sequence testing. I'll be honest I have not looked at his blog in years, I realized early on his methods and conclusions were not applicable for me.

Now if I was looking for a good grease I would consider results from this test.

BTW everything funded by corporations is not a conspiracy. PQIA has done a lot of work to get the rip off lubricants off the market including 303 hyd fluid. https://pqia.org/category/tractor-hydraulic-fluid/
