Tractor
Kubota B2620
Bought a Kubota B2620 on 12 October and was told that the tractor would be here at the end of the month. It is now getting to be mid November and no tractor. I call the saleman and I get "It is out of my hands, I can't $%& you a tractor". I'm thinking, then you shouldn't have told me that it would be here at the end of the month.....

I kind of compare this to walking in a restaurant and the silverware is dirty, do I walk out now or hope that is the only problem I will run into. Typically what would happen is that the service would turn out bad, the food would be terrible, and it would be over priced. I will kick myself if I stick with this dealer and I have trouble for the next 4 years with parts, service, etc

I gave a large deposit so I am wondering if I can even change my mind at this point or will I be hit with a restocking fee. I have a trailer so I could have got the tractor at any dealer just chose the closest.

I would get my money back and go elsewhere fast.

Before getting too excited, have a chat with the dealership owner. Honestly express your concern and ask for a date certain for delivery. If the answer doesn't meet your expectations, discuss canceling the order.

Just a few thoughts/questions.

Have you asked about whether there would be a restocking fee if you cancel?
What document(s) did you sign when you forked over the deposit?
Did you give them a check for the deposit? If so, have they cashed it?
Have you talked to the store's manager or owner?

I would talk to the owner, see what he says and go from there. They shouldnt charge a restock fee on items they havent recieved yet and they didnt deliever when promised. It might be the shipping agent that is the hold up and the dealership cant do anything about that or that it is still being built and they are running behind. Either way you might take advantage of this and maybe get a first service for free or something.

"It is out of my hands, I can't $%& you a tractor".

I don't care about anything else, that alone would have been enough to get me out of there.

I would of course inform the owner, but still go elsewhere.

I agree, this statement would have made me mad and seriously consider going elsewhere.

"It is out of my hands, I can't $%& you a tractor".

I have worked in equipment dealers. A lot of the time it is out of their hands, but it sounds like your salesman has an attitude problem. Walking away does not insure that you will get a tractor any sooner, unless you know another dealer that has one on their lot. I also would suggest speaking to the owner, sales manager, or general manager depending on the chain of command and size of the dealership. Like was said earlier, depending on what was signed, I would still be willing to walk away if you don't get some kind of warm fussy feeling after going higher up the chain.

I would agree... but I have to wonder if this is a case of a customers coming in EVERY DAY and asking the same question "is it here yet"?

Is sounds like the sales guy might be getting tired of hearing the same question. The attitude is bad, however what he said is true. Once the order is placed with Kubota, it is out of his hands.

My money is on the sales guy saying "I'll call you when it comes in" and the customer keeps asking...

It does suck that it takes so long to get your tractor when you order it... but you gotta have a little patients. It isn't like the dealer is telling Kubota to take their time.
