Should I buy a tooth bar

FIrst of all, congratulations on your new Kubota purchase! I have had my L4300 for almost a year and have had a great experience. Tooth bars are great diggers. There is one slight concern.

This is my first tractor with a loader and I have had a number of instances where I have done damage to fence posts, gutters, etc. with my front end loader. The tooth bar on it has increased the damage. Example, I have 'hooked' several fence posts with the end tooth on the tooth bar and broken the post. I ripped down a section of rain gutter on the edge of the barn roof with the end tooth on the bucket. This happened because I put the bucket up high to avoid hitting fence posts. These events are also done while I am looking back while moving forward. Using a front end loader is a learning experience in a lot of ways. I would also advise great caution and care while using your loader. While I am very happy I have a loader and would not want to be without one, I also believe that loader use can pose some of the greatest dangers on the tractor. This is particularly true when lofting a heavy load up high while on a slope. Be careful and enjoy many years of safe tractor operation.

Yes, you should buy a tooth bar.
I use mine extensively popping youpons out of the ground. (20' high, 3"-5" diameter softwood shrubs) It would have been very difficult without the tooth bar. They work great!
I paid $620. for my the bar on my 72" bucket. Factors that increase the price are the length of the bar and the strength or size of the bar and teeth.

Does anyone here have nay experience with a Woods toothbar compared to a WR Long toothbar? I can get a 66" Woods for $325 locally. I was just curious if teh WR Long was any better.

Woods makes great products, so I've got to believe that it would be a decent toothbar. Buy it and be happy ever after!
Good Luck! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I feel a bucket with no tooth bar is like a hand with no fingers. Yes you can get things done with just a hand, but WOW! what a difference fingers make.

I also have been thinking of purchasing a tooth bar, digging with the FEL would be more effective. I just got a price for a 66" bolt in bar for $225. plus $40. shipping.

Wow, that's a really good price. I don't need another tooth bar (only one loader), but I bet some others would be interested to know where you got that quote.

Danny,
if you don't mind, what is the final amount for the 48", i looked at the site and liked the looks of the toothbar, and the shipping to me would be similar.
