Rotary Cutter Should I buy a Kodiak HD 10' Brush Hog?

I have found a 2013 or 2014 Kodiak HD 10' pull type brush hog for sale and wondering what it was worth? It had normal wear with one of the back and side shields bent in. A new one is $6200. I was also wondering how Kodiak brush hogs hold up compared to other better known brush hogs? Do Kodiak brush hogs have any known issues?

About the Kodiak 10 footer you should send Island Tractor a PM as he owns a small Kodiak rotary cutter.

Its better for you to find out why they are selling it before you go further as many broken welds come from the steel sheets flexing over time.


Unless you can flip it over or stand it up to look underneath at the stump jumpers if it has them or look at the weld gussets to strengthen the steel around the gearboxes your gambling. The other thing to check is the rear wheel mounts and welds on tubes used for the wheels if it has rear caster wheels too.

Having the side and rear debris shields bent in is never good but until you look at it and take a 4 pound hammer with you to bang welds and use parts cleaner to check for broken welds with a wire brush you will not know whether its worth buying.

The cost comes close to a new john Deere 290 flail or a 6-7 foot Vrisimo flail mower.

What are they asking for it? Kodiak is a brand that mahindra sells I think. Not one of the big names but I don't think that means any less of quality either. I'd look it over real well and check on part availability. If you have to haul it much at all you'd be better suited with an 8' but that 10' will cover some ground
