I don't know about you folks, but she was an amazing child actor I was fortunate to watch while I was growing up. Maybe now she found her "Good ship lollipop". Child actors now, are different that is for sure.

I still think her movies were enjoyable entertainment. Heckuva lady! May she rest in peace.

I think she wanted to get as far away from the acting profession as possible in her adult life. I like that fact that she knew which things in life were truly important and acting/money were not on the list.

Breaks my heart....She was the sunshine of the Movies.....Never has been another like her and probably never will be...I will always remember her. God Bless her.

They mentioned she was unemployed at age 10.
Married at age 17.
Retired at age 22.
Child.
Divorced.
Married again, this time for 54 years, more children, good adult home life, ambassador to Ghana and Chec...
A pretty good life with ups and downs.
What is incredible is that today, a child star is popular for a few weeks at a time, maybe a few times, then gone. Shirley Temple was the top box office draw for FOUR YEARS! That's impressive.

David, to add to what you said, she didn't "OD" either, which seems to be the "norm" now days. Allot of class acts came from the 30's-50's and she was top of the class.

Great lady......rebuilt a carriage used in "Little Princess" a few years back. RIP Shirley!
