Shifting kubota utv 900

I have a kubota utv 900. Can only shift between low. Medium. High. Reverse if engine is not running?

Do you pull the knob on the dash that relieves the pressure so it shifts easier? Sometimes I would have to shift by body forward/back to ease the shift too. Some people have installed a "coast valve" that might help.

It helps to be on flat ground, and have coasted to stop rather than using the brakes.
They are touchy about the shifting.

Jack the rear tires up off of the ground, shift to 2 wheel drive, park brake off, start the engine, and put the transmission into gear. Does one of the rear tires spin? If one does, you need to adjust the hydrostat linkage.

There also is a dump valve for the hydro that is connected to the brake linkage. Depending on the production year it can be on the LH or RH side at the rear of the transaxle. It may be stuck or out of adjustment. To shift and RTV, you have to depress the brake pedal fully, which activates the dump valve. A properly adjusted and functioning RTV should shift quite easily.
