Wow, you guys all have some really beautiful homes on some really nice land. Here's my home with pole barn. It's only on a few acres but we are out in the country surrounded by farms.

Here are a few pics of my place of peace.

Undeveloped land that we will be adding a house, pond and farming about 1.5 acres along with planting about 2 acres of fruit trees.

This is my little lake (5 Ac/80' deep) as seen out the bay window in the kitchen. It was early morning, cold and we just had our first snow that was going to stay around. This is a typical lake in this country - basaltic lava scablands. Vertical walls go straight into the water with no shoreline. One foot out from the wallsView attachment 341992 the water is 45' deep.

That's pretty!
Never heard of a lake like that with the vertical walls. Are they spring fed?

RustyIron,
This picture(post # 98) was mid-December and you can see where the snow is melted on the ice. This is due to many springs on this end of the lake. The water on the ice along the north side is due to the snow melting and cascading over the cliffs onto the ice. I live in this area called the Channeled Scablands. It is the result of multiple outpourings of ancient glacial Lake Missoula. They say some of the waves coming thru this area were over 1500 feet high and totally emptied Lake Missoula in less that two days. Anyhow, it sure scoured the heck out of this country and all the good soil was dumped just south of me in a area called the Palouse.
The lake is dangerous year round. Somebody fall out of my boat or off the cliff in the summer w/out a preserver on had better be a darn good swimmer. The cliffs offer absolutely no hand or foot hold. In the winter I allow no body on or too close to the lake - the springs will reduce ice thickness to less than half an inch but still have snow cover. IE - you don't know your on thin ice until you fall through. Most all the lakes like mine are much bigger but still have the same basic configuration. Its just not a safe lake to be on with an ice cover. Besides if you slip and fall off one of the cliffs in the winter it will be a 20-40 foot fall onto ice that is 14"-18" thick except where the springs are.
