Everyday, I see 2500HD and even 3500HD trucks that don't have a single scuff mark in the bed, and all the OEM paint inside their hitch receiver. It's fine if that's what they want to drive, I don't really care, but let's not pretend that's not a huge part of the truck-buying populace.
In Europe a US grey import half ton is enough to look cooler than the rest. That was my point 😉

Cummins diesel isnt a thing here either, a V8 with loud pipes is rarer than a 6 pot diesel that sounds like an ordinary Case MX120 🤣🤣

Oh that Skoda... i seriously thought of buying one 20 years ago. The ladies will assume you have huge confidence in your manhood if you dare to drive that: That truck is an anti-statement that screams: Look at me, ive got nothing to compensate for 🤣🤣🤣😏💪🏻

Cargo capacity same thing: A HiLux is pretty much equal to a Tundra in cargo capacity, just better built in Japan with a high resale value because Africa offers great prices for used ones no matter how old.
Now that you mention it, these Daihatsu HiJets have a load capacity very close to the lowest rated 1/2-tons.

We have two 3500s like that. In this case the simple explanation is that they're never used with bumper pull trailers, and the loads go in or on trailers, not on their beds.

Had a 2-door for a while and the first thing I did was to remove the bed since it served no purpose.

No, but this is:

In rural Europe, this is cool: a dull Swedish brick that gives an M5 a run for its money

Or this Sprinter with OM605 turbodiesel tuned to 350hp on stock internals

Or the OM606 with a big rig turbo, and fuel pump modified by a tractorpulling specialist, that outruns a Porsche GT3 in a drag race

Here is a dual scale (miles/kilometers for you)

You guys do truckpulls: We pull grandpas Benz

I graduated from college in 1984 and was my own after that. I don’t know if it’s my perception or it’s was reality but a lot less people had pickup trucks then. I was always borrowing one or my buddy was and I’d help him. First a friends and then my father in laws. We got our own not to long after we got married, 1992 and I’ve had a pickup since. These days it’s very tough to get a four door car, there are very few made.

Yeah, but mad tractor-haulin' men like you weren't my target, there. These guys have no 5th wheel.

Most 1984 pickups were standard cab, not as practical for the family man. I remember my father once stating he wished he could own a pickup, but since he needed to haul around kids and clients and could only afford one personal vehicle, he had to own a sedan. He did have a van and a wagon for his business, each specially-outfitted in ways that would have made a pickup unsuitable for those purposes.

I must be reading you wrong, here. Skipping the Alfa Romeo's, Maserati, and Bentley's of the world, and just looking at more common brands:

Acura: Integra & TLX
Audi: A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, E-Tron GT, and then the S-variants of most of those
BMW: 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8-series
Cadillac: Clestiq, CT4, CT5
Chevy: Malibu
Genesis: G70, G80, G90
Honda: Accord, Civic
Hyundai: Elantra, Inoniq 6, Sonata
Jaguar: XF
Kia: Forte, K4, K5
Lexus: ES, IS, LS
Lucid: Air
Mazda: 3
Benz: C, E, and S-classes, CLA, EQE, EQS
Nissan: Altima, Sentra, Versa
Polestar: 2
Porsche: Taycan
Subaru: Legacy, WRX
Tesla: 3, S
Toyota: Camry, Cololla, Crown
VW: Jetta, ID.7
Volvo: S60, S90

Now, I haven't kept in touch with what's happening at Dodge, but it looks like you can still order a new 2023 Dodge Charger? I worry about this brand. While essentially leading the second great golden age of the muscle car with their SRT vehicles, they did a very bad job of planning for the future, over the last 5 years.

My Dad was a mailman for 17 years. First was a Dodge 2wd short box for a couple of years. International Scout, had two

years, little things started falling apart. 1968 Chevy 4x4 suburban 1/2 ton, great vehicle and kept it to the end. Next 1974

Ford 150 extended cab 2wd long bed. Next 1978 Ford 150 extended cab 2wd long bed, his last, retired. Story he told me, it

was going to be really cold. Had 1978 Ford block heater plugged in, charger on the battery, wouldn't start. Didn't use the

Chevy unless roads were very bad. Went to the Chevy with a shovel and broom to clean off 2 ft of snow hadn't been run in

weeks or on any charger. Stepped in the Chevy and started right up. He loved that Chevy, the reason he bought the Fords

was the Chevy had 3 on the tree and the Fords were auto and of course the Chevy had a lot of miles on it.
