Aren't these idiots paranoid about getting busted for unsecured load?
The local dumps fines you for that, doubt the scrap yards do, but I would be a nervous wreck that something fell off and went through a $2000 windshield, for a $20 set of straps.
That would require one thinking about the possible consequences of one's irresponsible actions or inaction, which is a rather rare occurrence today.

A week's worth of beer! One layer for every day.

I see 16 high, 4 wide of 2x12 @ 12' length.
Just under 2 tons, half of it behind the bumper...

hmm
I think those are 12-packs
12 ounces of beer = ~12.5 dry ounces + ~8 ounces for the bottle + a bit for the cap, figure 21 dry oz per; x12 = 252 ounces per 12-pack
5x5 12-packs per layer, x7 layers = 25x7= 175 12-packs
175x252oz=2756 pounds
Figure 2800 pounds with the pallet and plastics

That appears to be an F-250, probably 4x4 (ride height). Cargo max ~3000#, which includes driver and possibly fuel.

If all the beer is for him, he's probably well over 200# himself; regardless he's very close or over max cargo, but properly strapped and not taking any fast corners he should be ok... though even with straps the truck is a serious roll-over risk!

Back in the late 80s my friend and his wife drove his 1980 Corvette from Western Canada to here ( near Sault Ste Marie Ontario ) towing a tent trailer......I would call it blasphemy of the highest degree to have Vette seen doing that, but he laughed and two weeks later drove back to his home in Alberta! He continued as a highly experienced Esso Oil drilling Engineer in the Arctic Ocean area.......function over style I guess.
