Saw this on line:

According to the Minnesota State Patrol: "Ford F350 towing a 5th wheel camper and a trailer with a boat was northbound on Hwy 169 near Rum River Drive N when it lost control and started to spin.

"The camper and trailer disconnected from the truck and all 3 spun and rolled going off road to the right and coming to rest on the shoulder and in the ditch. The truck came to rest on its roof. The truck started on fire as the driver and passenger were able to get out with non-life threatening injuries."

Campers usually come with a very light frame, merely to hold the wood together. With a reasonable overhang behind the axles, the boat trailer can sway the entire rear of the camptrailer. Plus tongue weight of the boat trailer taking weight off the gooseneck hitch of the caravan, creating a totally different trailer balance... now what could possibly go wrong ? 🤷‍♂️🙈

A fiberglass boat like that is probably over 4,000 itself, not including trailer. A friend just got a 21' fiberglass fishing boat that is over 5500# before fuel and livewell.

A Springdale camper like that is probably closer to 6,000 dry weight.

I would bet the overall setup is NOT above the weight capacity, but with a fairly light camper and fairly heavy boat it may have been a poor choice.

Oh, I’m betting that speed and traffic was the major issue. Considering that Princeton is well past the last stoplight on NB 169, the traffic really speeds up thru there.

AT first I went WTH. Then , I still went WTH.. Had a tree in the bed so I assume a special trailer for such.

I wonder if the mower deck is in the back seat.

Of course!

I bought HF's smaller cement mixer to tumble and shell walnuts. It was a failed experiment, useless for that. So I put it on Craigslist. 'Clean, nearly new'.

Some guy showed up and he was the classic tweaker. A real RN in an urban hospital and I think he said he had worked two shifts before driving the 60 miles up to my place. He was all but bouncing on tiptoes as he told me all about my mixer, I never had a chance to say anything. He was going to tear it down and ship it home to his wife someplace in the deep South where he had left her to manage a farm growing thousands of chickens, while he earned California wages to keep the farm going. He put the mixer's bowl in the back seat of a full size Oldsmobile and the chassis in the trunk.

I have no idea how he was going to ship a cement mixer 2,000 miles cheaper than just buying the same thing at a HF there. I really don't think he thought this purchase through, but just grabbed it on raw tweaker emotion. There's another story in how he thought he could navigate up here better than the directions I had given him - but you get the idea. Beware an RN with free access to all the hospital-grade drugs you could imagine.

The important thing though is that you got paid. 👍

When people show up to buy something and are determined to buy it, I've learned to just answer the questions asked and take the cash. It's not my job to be the great educator or influencer of other people's decisions. Who made me king?

Besides, doctors tell us that trying to convince someone that their position is wrong only hardens their resolve.

Here, we have the habit of having a company barbeque at work before summer holiday.

Every year some videos appear of equipment abuse whilst drunk: Last year it was a German contractor who put his truck mounted slurry agitator in his swimming pool to create a whirlpool, this year it was a guy jumping his municipality lawnmower and breaking all windows..
