The implication in your post was that with proper loading the trailer would not have failed.
It looks to me like the trailer WAS loaded properly and the first reel of cable was dropped at first stop & trailer failed on the way to next stop.

It looks to me like that is the max that truck can haul. Those are big coils.

Those are not sheet coil, they are cable, most likely either big direct burial or overhead electrical cable. The shop down the street from mine sells that stuff and their big forklift (24K capacity) grunts when loading or unloading those big spools. They can easily weight 20,000 pounds each and are hard on trailers. That style trailer and how they have them placed are common practice. Aluminum trailers are more likely to crack than bend like a steel trailer.

Yeah I agree unless they are fiber optic they weigh at least 20,000 pounds. That truck can't carry much more than 45,000 pounds.

This guy pulled into the transfer station after dragging this load of yard waste down the road. He then backed up to the dumpster to unload and I guess the good part is it was half unloaded when he got to the edge.

I just got a truck like that in black. Those short beds are useless. I kept my old diesel for hauling stuff.

The speculation about these matters just makes me shake my head. Assuming the coils are heavy based on their physical size. Maybe it's fiber cable. Next people will make assumptions about what the driver had for breakfast.

I recall accidents where steel sheet coils fell off trucks squashing some little car (and possibly the occupent) . I assure you, these aren't them.
