Got it...

I forget I'm not the only one that doesn't drive new cars... my "New" car as in the newest I own and also bought new is year model 2002.

Then again, even Section 8 tenants in property I manage only drive brand new cars...
Part that really blows is the jeep will be paid off in a few months.

I buy at around 3 to 5 years old then try to keep them for at least 10 years.

Bought the jeep 3 years ago with about 60k miles on it. It's got 156k now.

Not sure towing wrong but so wrong towing...

Freinds retired, sold their Bay Area home... she a retired teacher with lots of family in North Carolina.

Driving cross country in Brand new Diesel pickup towing 20' trailer truck broke down in I80... Truck under 4,000 miles.

Dealer and Manufacturer unable to help as part not available anywhere... told 4 to 6 months maybe...

After several days of total frustration traded for brand new gasser... felt they between a rock and hard place...

Towing just made situation complicated because all of thier possessions in unattached trailer in the middle of no where...

Hard to believe they could not get a loaner truck. Easy to believe the dealer did not want to, especially if it was not the seller of the truck. The seller should have provided a loaner. For those that might know of a similar situation with someone they should call RAM or whatever manufacture. Most have a department to handle such things and will resolve issues that dealers want to avoid addressing. Recently had a friend with a less than 6 month and under 30,000 with problems. Dealer gave him some run around. After he called RAM things got handled promptly and would have been to his satisfaction if done to start with.

Problem was a bad ram 68RFE transmission being used well under specifications and weight limits.... not a aisin transmission.

I am not sure if you have inside information that it was RAM, but I instantly *** UMED it was a RAM, but then thought I was letting my BIAS' show.......

I have wondered ever since what brand it was

No idea on the brand mentioned in ultrarunner post.

Do know for a fact the one in my post was a ram 2500, 2019, 4x4 with the 6.7 standard duty diesel and 68rfe transmission. Keep hearing similar stories. Made me glad I paid extra for the aisin transmission since I pull daily. Usually about 2000 lbs in the truck and Trailors with load ranging from 8,000 to 17,000. Occasionally heavier.

I keep asking but so far no response... they are living in a trailer on a friend's property looking everyday to get into a home... seems they are not the only Californians looking to buy a slice of rural Carolina heaven.

I do know the diesel he loved and bought to be his last truck was replaced by a gasser midway across the country.

Not sure if they had the trailer loaded to the gills but could have been towing wrong.

Now the rule of thumb is 2 seconds following time for cars and 4 for large trucks. By going with time it grows with speed.
Yep, I generally shoot for 2-3 seconds following distance (a little more on the interstate).

That's what I try for also. If somebody behind me is following too close I also add enough extra time to compensate for him, as well.

^ wow, great example. Tractor loading was poorly chosen, for sure. But they also reacted terribly. You can see they are hard on the truck brakes throughout the sway event. Simply grabbing the trailer brake controller separately/independently would have straightened it right out. (I am assuming they had trailed brakes. If not, that's another huge towing fail, with such a heavy tractor).

At least their chains, tongue and hitch held!!
