In Texas we don't have to have an actual Motor Vehicle Inspection 'Sticker' any longer. But you have to have had the vehicle inspected and passed before you can register it.

Few years ago a local inspection station had wall of fake stickers. Some were pretty crude.

It’s a cat excavator. I’m guessing they brought it to tear down what’s left of that and load it on dump truck.

Are you still expected/required to keep your vehicle safe? Considering some of the junk which I see on the road up here even with inspections I understand why we need them.

Our vehicle 'inspection' consists of a Deputy checking the VIN and logging the Odometer reading. That's done when you get a new or used car before you get plates and costs a whopping $5 bucks. They never even look at lights, fenders or bumpers let alone brakes or suspension.
