Me too. I just don’t know anything about the no fault laws in other states. We don’t have it here.

States do no fault differently. If you want a bad example look at Michigan, the state with the highest insurance rates and worst coverage relative to the actual accident rates and losses. We are required to buy "no fault" insurance which is effectively liability insurance for the irresponsible people who don't buy insurance. In Michigan, no fault only covers medical and non-vehicle losses independent of fault. If an uninsured driver totals your car and you don't have collision coverage, you are screwed. That's why we carry full coverage on old cars. The insurance for my 2017 F150, my 2013 Fusion and my 2008 Escape all cost very similar amounts in spite of the difference in value. I feel I have to carry full coverage because of the large number of uninsured motorists. Because of the very high cost, a lot of people make a one month payment, get the license plate and then cancel the insurance. The state has no effective way to track them down and cancel the plates.

In Florida, insurance companies report directly to the DMV. If someone pulls the one month on a policy and let's it cancel, then the state suspends there license. Known a couple people that had that happen to them. One got into a wreck with no insurance, and found themselves in a pretty big pickle. The other got stopped for a traffic violation and the officer informed them of there predicament.

When the state gets a cancellation notice, they do look to see if someone just switched companies. Since there's direct reporting, the new insurance company pops up under your name in the data base.

Not needed. The sworn testimony of a credible witness, even the plaintiff, if found credible by the finder of fact can provide the necessary preponderance of evidence to prevail in a civil case for damages.

That's all I ever did. A lone drive and I gave my insurance company the info over the phone and they collected. Seems that "mediation" is a two way street and if the customer looks to be trustworthy it's the end of the story.

For some reason I have been audited on my antique cars... the insurance company sends verification to the State but the State has no record of the vehicle... requires additional documentation.

As long as the vehicles in question are hauled... i.e. towed on a licensed trailer over public roads... no registration is required.

All that I know is that when I was doing contract forestry I lost my GL insurance because I sometimes worked in New York. My new policy was a little over $1800, which was a $1525 increase. :(

Last week I saw two people trying to load one into a covered trailer that was about one food narrower and lower than the tank.

I finally left after seeing them try it flat, vertical, and diagonal.
