Good grief.

I once came upon a couple dozen 4x4 fence posts in the slow lane of I-80 during heavy rain, nighttime, low visibility. Dodged them. The next offramp had a CHP field office so I went in there to report the hazard. To my surprise the clerk on duty couldn't care less.

I never heard of a crash there so apparently they didn't cause too much harm.

Came across a stack of corrugated/ribbed steel panels at an intersection once while driving my car. About 40mins later when I showed back up in my truck, they were still there and undamaged. Which was amazing since it was a 60mph 4 lane State Highway at night. Anyways, me and the boy picked up 54 9' pieces of metal for my new equipment shed :)

How do people pull this stuff off? If I tried that the lumber would fly off killing a family of 6 in a minivan???? Amazing idiots.....

You risked fines and everyone on the roads life to save a buddy a $100 towing bill? Long ago I gave up helping people save $50-$100 towing bill as no good deed goes unpunished.

Agreed... really stupid and endangering. No excuses... Sorry...

That's atrocious. Even a SINGLE 2" ratchet strap would suffice to avoid potential disaster.
He was going very slow. He did have a strap to keep the tailgate shut, lol.
