That would have been a better configuration but in this case it was on flat suburban streets with no other traffic and I doubt he even got out of first gear. BIL drives like a grannie. :D

I can't believe that those straps didn't do thousands of dollars of damage to the soup-tin body of that truck. As stupid as some of these cases are, it does remind me of a better time, when we could do such stupid things and not be bothered by the government. Sure. If we hurt someone, we should have been accountable, but other than that, leave us (and our money) alone.

Not if he didn't tighten them beyond "snug" which would be entirely consistent with the concept.

At the risk of repeating a story. I came across some people driving a passenger vehicle stuck in sand on a beach. I suggested they "rock" the vehicle, at which time, the young gentleman stood beside his vehicle, put his hands on the corners of the roof and started to rock the vehicle from side to side. When I saw the picture of the strapped p/u, I had to think of him.

That's what you might expect from a lot of people almost any summer weekend at Port Aransas. He probably just made it worse.

I think i see the problem, that bolt appears to be a grade 2, at least it has double nuts.............
