Lube it once in a while. My 21 year old Michigan Chevy had a perfectly working tailgate when I traded it 3 months ago.

Bingo, I've owned Chevrolet pickup trucks all my life and some fords and even a Dodge ONE time and never had any tailgate issues, a little lubrication now and then does doors, tailgates, hood hinges a world of good, and a nickels worth of grease in a grease fitting every now and then ain't bad either.

I've replaced the plastic tail gate latch on 3 work trucks in the past 2 years. 2000, 2007x2 year GMC 2500 trucks.

No its a Chevy tailgate. 99% chance I'd don't work. Trust me. About any chevy I've owned got the tailgate strapped cause the latches are junk

ONLY latch problems I ever had on my Chevy truck was ONE time after about 200,000 miles over 15 years. But I never greased it or did any other maintenance on that latch until then.

yep - that couch is going to end up sitting in the middle of some intersection. He'll be a wiser person when he goes down to buy his next new one - which won't be very long.

Actually, the little feet on the couch will probaby catch in the gap between the bed and the tailgate and save this guy some embarassment (at the least).

I saw a guy with a Tundra with his tailgate down along side the interstate with a dryer or washer laying on the shoulder of the road. He did still have the other half of the set in the truck bed.

You have to request access to that forum. I think the only qualification is: you have been a member of TBN and posted for some minimal time.

But - some of the most frequent posters in that forum seem to participate only for the purpose of continually insulting everyone who responds to them. The threads immediately descend into exchanges of insults. You haven't missed anything valuable if you haven't visited that forum before. I think it was a wise policy to segregate the aggressive loons off into their own little corner.

While some of what you say is true, I disagree somewhat. There are many discussions in friendly politics, and not ALL turn ugly. I post anything that is firearms related in any way in friendly politics because sometimes these types of thread are attacked by our anti gun members and then invariably turn political. And while I don't think of myself as a loon, I am sure some here do. So Renze if you are interested, then by all mean apply for authorization to "Unfriendly Politics". It is good, it is bad, and you can either look at it or not look at it, but the choice will be yours.
