I saw this one back in the spring. Guy had a fairly new F350 dually, new 25' Gooseneck, nice John Deere tractor, but a $3 rachet strap holding it all together.

That is shocking that anyone would transport like that. What were they thinking?

That was taken by me. Transport hit the center road bridge in Sheridan, NY while running west on the 90. Was next to one of my farms.

I don't get out that way much, but I know right where it is...

We're between the Batavia and Bergen exits, though a lot closer to the lake.

It was the only time I know of any truck hitting that bridge so I am thinking it was just a freak thing where the truck was close and they hit a bump and the worst possible time. I use to drive out to Alabama every weekend to help my daughters great grandmother at her home there. Now I only drive that way a couple times a year as I never find much time to travel beyond Buffalo anymore Hopefully with the camper we will have an excuse to make time as I never have explored the northern part of New York. I've toured a lot of farms in the Lake Ontario area though and it is a great area. Maybe if there is another WNY get together we can meet up.

if you want to have fun go to a boat ramp on a holiday weekend (preferably Memorial day weekend)
thats when all the new boat owners want to get out and be the captain of there new vessels

Couldnt agree more!! My grandfather used to own a marina on the Erie Canal in NY.... We spent countless hours watching.

I have seen a ford Ranger putting in a 12K cabin cruiser ( at least twice as tall and about 32 ft in length)
when he started backing and the trailer started down the ramp all you could see is the front tires locked up and it was just gaining more speed down the ramp
the only thing that kept him from going in was the amount of surface his transom had when it hit the water
they got the boat launched and the truck could barely pull the trailer up the ramp empty WOW!!!

We witnessed a similar situation... 1/2 2wd Pickup... same basic description upon launch. My brother offered to pull the boat back out for him the next day with his 82 K5 Blazer with the Diesel. (weighing in at close to 6000 pounds). The blazer pulled it out fine using 4wd Low range... My brother gets the boat out for the guy... and the guy had the balls to complain it was on the trailer crooked. wanted him to put it back in!!

I've done that more than once..Pallets of stone, heaped gravel etc..Not good, but was careful...Police just shook their heads. My Chevy/GMC 1/2 tons took it all in stride.

Reminds me of an old slant 6 dodge 150. That truck would not die, and I had a lot of fun hauling loads shingles, concrete, etc to the dump as we fixed up our old house. Amazing what you can get away with when cops are too busy dealing with real crime to write tickets LOL

When I was a kid I watched a guy load a Crosley into the bed of a 1/2 ton pickup at an estate sale. They pushed the Crosley onto a low hill, backed the truck up the the hill and rolled it right in!

No pictures, but I once witnessed a guy pulling two loaded hay wagons through the center of Ottawa on the 417 at morning rush hour.... ( That's our main interstate / thoroughfare for you folks )

If I hadn't seen it, I would not believe the story.

Back in the early 1970's there was a photo on the front page of the Bangor (Maine) Daily News of a guy stopped on the Interstate that was hauling a chicken coop on his car. It was one of those huge Chyslers from the mid 1960's that was absolutely ginormous. The guy cut a car sized hole in the coop, drove in and built a framework on the car to hold the coop up. I don't recall the size but remember seeing the photo and couldn't believe anyone would do that, even if in a sparsely populated area.

A few years later I had dealings with the man when I answered an ad regarding fence posts for sale. He was dirty and a little odd but no dummy. I'd guess he built the framework right and probably the only real problem would have been the width. He wasn't going very far.

A Smart car weighs about 1600-1800 pounds so it should handle it easily.

That was my neighbor's truck, that he sold. The buyer came in a Smart car and, since it would fit, decided to carry it instead of the wife driving it home, from WA to MT, IIRC.

I don't remember him mentioning that, and he is gone for the winter now. He was surprised there were so many photos on the internet soon after.
