That trailer-with-pallet looks like it may be a little light on tongue weight.

Not wanting to turn away a free boat lift, I made arrangements to do a recovery of the free-to-me-boat-lift. After getting the lift on my trailer, a garage fire broke out two doors down.

Upon getting back to my truck, it dawned to me that all of our local police were over at the fire, and right now would be a good time to hit the highway with my unsecured load. So off I went! ...

and the pallet itself was leashed down with nothing more than gravity.

This confirms what I have always suspected...that TBN members are among the smartest people in the room. Good, clear thinking under duress. When you get lemons, make lemonade

:)

Not sure what went wrong here, but I'm sure the driver of the yellow truck will have it sorted out soon enough...

The yellow truck paint reminded me a of a classic Mr. Bean skit.

Ball coupler on trailer?

Pintle hook on truck?

Cutting torch?

Problem solved.

Thankfully, so far at least, I haven't seen any pictures of me headed home from Menard's a month or so ago. Seems I neglected to add up the total weight of the load. I made sure it was balanced, but oh boy, was I overloaded. No ill effects of the transport transpired. In fact, since I decided to add trailer brakes, even though brakes are not required on a trailer of that size, I had a shorter stopping distance overloaded than I would have without an overload and no brakes. Just imagine the stopping distance without overload but WITH trailer brakes!

Never, ever, EVER again will I have a brakeless trailer, no matter it's GVWR.
