I rented a stump grinder (with trailer) once and the checkout guy wanted to verify my lights (as they should). The left signal didn't work but he said I could take the grinder and trailer anyway, but I "should check my truck's wiring". That told me his trailer lights were bad. Since I knew my wiring was good and I knew I could make the (short) round trip with right hand turns I took the trailer (they only had 1). I since bought a Reese adapter from Round to Flat that has LED lights on it so I can prove my truck wiring if this happens again. The one which I always question is the Maroon pulling a trailer who doesn't care if his lights don't work. I almost hit a contractor's trailer last year... I probably would have if i hadn't been pulling into the same gas station as he was. When I commented they were out he said "yeah I know, I just didn't feel like fixing them this morning.
