We had a box truck ram some stopped cars here on rt 1.
Driver had no license and was not a citizen.
Got out and ran from the scene leaving his passenger in a bad state and two cars with hurt people.
Probably left the country by now :-(

No need to flee the country.

He probably already "borrowed" another identity and was business as usual by the end of the day.

No need if the truck wasn't registered in his name and nobody got his id...

Didn't end up wrong, but the first guy was seriously trying to be wrong:

I suppose this guy could have taken a 3rd party second rate truck driving school but the DOT test covers every rule he violated. I can’t imagine he didn’t at least read the DOT handbook and have a crash course in truck driving. And every rule/law he broke is basic stuff. It’s not like you need a 6 week training course to understand you don’t continue driving with faulty equipment, you downshift going down a hill and the runaway truck ramp is for runaway trucks. I mean if this guy is literally that stupid he’d probably drown on a sinking ship while a lifeboat hangs on the side.
You would think the CDL test would be in English only since the ability to read and understand English is a requirement for a CDL driver.

That’s a pretty lame excuse for missing the runaway ramp anyway. It’s a big yellow sign the size of a billboard with flashing yellow lights with a picture of a truck speeding down a hill. How much more universal could it get?

I was taught not to down shift going down a hill loaded. It's too easy to miss the shift especially if inexperienced like this guy was. I think that is the reason he was coming down the hill in neutral. The downshift is made before the downgrade.
The runaway ramp is in English with no pictogram so if he could not read and understand English he wouldn't know.
This guy filmed the route a few months after the wreck.
He did know well ahead of time he was in trouble and he did not choose any viable out. There aren't a whole lot of outs and to choose one takes a little thought and experience.
My question still is, how did he pass the CDL written test if he didn't know and understand English. If there is a state that administers the CDL written test in Spanish then that is just PC stupidity.

Look at my last post where they say that all brakes are required to be applied automatically upon breakaway:

So if all axles are required to have brakes and all brakes on a trailer are required to be applied automatically upon breakaway, any trailer built after that requirement was enacted should have spring cans on all axles.

Hows that in America, everything single line braking systems ?

Here in Europe its all dual line: a supply and a command line. Supply fills the tank on the trailer, command controls brake force.

Cut the lines and the trailer makes an emergency brake on all axles with the air in the trailer tank. Spring cans are mandatory on one axle only, as parking brake.

And also when your ABS/EBS cable isnt attached, it makes a full power emergency stop as soon as you touch the brakes. Its something you learn fast when shunting..

Not saying they’re legal, but I see ratchet strap secured tanks pretty often.
The tank straps rotted off our Nissan Navara (Ford Ranger) last summer. Coworker would take it to Belgium on monday morning, when friday evening his mother visited and asked what was hanging under the truck... its only tin, but at highway speeds you can make a nasty roll if you get it under the rear wheels...
