I took my test in a 68 Ford station wagon. An RV is smaller. But that was just a normal car back then.

I visited the showroom and sat in a Tesla Y on Friday. I'm interested in buying one, but not committed.

After driving my Subaru Outback and Focus Wagon for 22 and 16 years respectively - that Tesla felt like the Ford you described. The hood looked so big you could play tennis on it.

My Corvttes have huge hoods as well. But the rest of the car is smaller.

The lower photo is at Ikea in Portland, Oregon.

I took my driver license test in a (my oldest brothers) '71 challenger 4spd in '72. Only car available that day.

You could get the A with a pickup, take a night class for the air brake endorsement (Z) and go to work driving heavy trucks.
You can't do that any more. If you want the AZ you need to test in a tractor trailer with a manual transmission.
The last company I worked for was in the process of converting over to all automated transmissions. With the kind of driving we did it was a good move, all very short hauls in city and county road traffic. Two pedals, mashed down on one to go and it would go through the gears automatically, and use the left one to brake. It reduced the fatigue factor considerably.
