I think the biggest issue is most people driving or not have absolutely no situational awareness. People walk around with blinders on like a horse towing a cart and they drive the same way, and then wonder how they get into accidents and then try to blame the other person. And throw in the Me First mentality and you have a problem in the works.

Exactly. They seem to have no consideration to the other driver in merging situations which is one of my pet peeves. It is that me first attitude..... to heck with you if I run you onto the shoulder of the road when I aggressively merge.

The young woman in front of me this morning had her giant smart phone mounted on the dashboard, WATCHING A TV SHOW while commuting in to work. I could see the characters moving around from inside my car behind her. Needless to say she was swerving all over, and her speed was +/- 10mph on our rural 2-lane road. I had to do a little meditation to calm myself down; didn't get a chance to scold her.

She might have been on a Zoom call. Seems appropriate. Zoom zoom!

Anecdotes aside, I've always believed that if the average motorist like me had to pass the same test in our automobiles which a trucker takes to get his CDL there would be a lot less drivers on the road today.

And the streets would probably be a whole lot safer.

And those empty busses the taxpayers are paying for would be full.

I haven't seen it, but his mother says my cousin drives down the interstate reading a newspaper which is draped over the steering wheel.

I saw a guy driving a reading the newspaper once. I know a retired state trooper that wrote a guy up for it once. What are people thinking?

I once saw a woman driving down the road with a bowl of cereal balanced on the tips of her fingers. I'm sure she was in complete control of her vehicle though.

A guy this morning, behind me in pickup. I have about 1 1/2 car length in front of me. heavy, slow traffic. He comes around me on the left. This is a 4 lane road. Nothing is in the left lane. Pulls in front of me, within 2 feet of my bumper. We go about 50 yards. There are two lanes turning left. I pull over to the far left. He pulls in beside me and slows down. I than go thru the light ahead of him. What was the hurry to pass?
The most interesting wreck this week was a truck coming out of Walmart parking lot was hit by car pulling into parking lot. Truck hit center and turned on side and pushed about 30 feet down road. Car pushed in almost to the dash. I would like to know how fast the car was going and trying to pull off the highway into the parking lot, to beable to turn a 1/2 ton truck on its side.

Your first is a question which I ask a lot... was it really necessary to pass me on a blind hill, only to slam on the brakes and wait for traffic to turn into your driveway?
I had a tractor-trailer pass me on a hill a few years ago, then pull in and cut me off. There were cars in front of us for as far as you could see, so I snapped on the CB and asked just what he thought he had accomplished? He told me to mind my own business... I followed him and the line in front of him for 20 miles, until he turned off onto the interstate.
