My new pronovost blower has cushion valves on the rotator and i need to set them. Have been thinking about getting a 5000 psi valve and teeing it in between a male and female QD fitting , seems like this would indicate the pressure in the lines to the rotator as it relieves. Wouldn't this set up yield the ability to measure the system and loader reliefs as well?

How to best set the valve? there are no instructions and my google fu is weak. Do all cushion valves increase/decrease in the same direction? if so i guess i would just back the screw out as much as allowed then gradually increase.

Thoughts?

and thanks

well looks like some of spell check gave me a fusion valve not cushion, can't change title

You have to load the pump to set the relief.

Gauge will go in a tee in the pressure line.

Turn right to increase the pressure.

Is the cushion valve a spike relief or a valve to allow the rotor to run down or spin down when stopping?

JJ , that is what it looks like, i take it that when you say turn right you mean clockwise when facing the screw

Oldnslo, the cushion is a relief so that when the motor driven gear reaches the end of the geared section on the chute it stops and does not try to cut addl teeth ( so you can't spray yourself with snow when operating the blower

Yes, clockwise increases the pressure .

If it was me I would back the crossover relief valves all the way out and just give yourself enough pressure to turn the shoot and about 1/4 to 1/2 turn more. Most of these will only go down to 500psi or so and that's a bunch just for a shoot rotator. CJ

fishhead,

Would you not think that the pressure has already has been set or did the manual instruct you to check and set the pressure.

Real easy to check. You install the gauge in a tee in the supply line at the IN port of the chute valve and cause the chute to rotate to the stop. Do a full rotation to check reverse.
