Service Manual from Carver Equipment?

I am considering ordering a BX 1500 Service Manual for $55.00 from Carver Equipment. Has anyone ordered a Service Manual for their BX from them? Are they a bound book or a loose leaf binder type manual? Does it go into a lot of detail with pictures of the internal components of the engine, hydro, etc? Were you happy with what you got for the money?

BIGUN, I haven't seen the manuals for the BX models, but shortly after I bought my B2710, I ordered both the Workshop Manual and the Illustrated Parts List from Carver. They really do go together and I'd sure want both. The shop manual will have some pictures, but not for everything; the parts manual has exploded views of all the parts. Expensive? Yes, but well worth it to me. I think mine were $88 and $44 dollars. One was loose leaf, the other was bound, but I can't remember which was which now. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif However, they were both punched for a 3-ring binder and together fit just fine in the 3" binder I got from Wal-Mart. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Bird. When I was at my dealer about a year ago considering buying my BX, I asked to see the Service Manual for the BX1500. They pulled out a 3-ring binder with a very few pages in it and said that was it. I don’t know if that was a supplement to a larger more complete BX manual, but I wasn’t impressed with it. I would hate to spend $55 for what I saw that day.
I have the parts book for my BX1500 in PDF format which is way more useful than the skimpy Service Manual I saw at the dealer. Wish I could get the Service Manual in PDF format the same way.

I have a BX1500 service manual and it is about 1/2" or so thick. It covers the whole tractor but no accessories. Not even the mower.

I bought the BX2200 manual from Carver. Mine came lose-leaf in shrink-wrap plastic. You will need to supply your own binder.

I believe the manual is a necessity; I use mine all of the time. I was disappointed with the quality of print. It is a Xerox copy and some of the illustrations are not as clear as they could be.

I think someone else posted that same thing awhile back. Fortunately, my manuals were not copies, but book quality.

Is this the case only with the manuals ordered from Carver or is that standard Kubota issue? I would be disappointed with something like that too, especially for what they cost.

I ordered the Work Shop Manual (WSM) for the BX2200 from Tractor Smart. It is NOT a photocopy and, supposedly, that exact same technical manual supplied by Kubota to servicing techs. (Quality paper, clear diagrams/drawings, readable fonts.) Each chapter is numbered individually so I'm guessing it's between 175 to 225 pages. Its loose leaf so I stuck it into a 3 ring binder. I highly recommend it if you do any of your own servicing.

The WSM part number for the BX1500 is 97897-13060 and cost less than $60

Carver included a shop manual as part of the deal with my tractor purchase. It was the real thing - not a xerox. Took a while to arrive, but it has been very useful for figuring out how things work.
