Service every 50 Hours?

Someone here surely knows of a good hydraulic oil for these tractors that would replace the "Bobcat special oil".

Yeah, Bobcat has their own labeled tires, too (General Purpose and
All Purpose, aka R4 and R1). That does not mean you have to buy them.

At least Kioti lists alternative oils in their owner's manual. I buy the
best name-brand Tractor-Hydraulic Fluid, and look for the manufacturer
equivalency label on the side. I like to see Kubota UDT or JD J20C
equivalences noted. (They also look and smell the same.) I have
bought many many 5-gal bkts of Chevron 1000 THF and Conoco76
THF. Some Kubota dealers sell UTF in 5-gal bkts for a reasonable price,
too. I can get Conoco's THF now for about $8-9/gal from an oil
disti.

I am thinking that many folks here are just either not reading the manuals or listening too much to their dealer who would for sure rather you brought in your tractor for service and let them put in their brand specific oil at double the cost plus $100 per hour for their mechanic to do something that most 13 year old or younger kids used to do on the farm. That was one of the first things I learned to do was change the oil / filter when I was growing up on a farm. It didnt take a lot of heavy lifting to do something that simple, Dad just checked to see that everything was tight when I finished and that was it. After a few times doing it, he didnt then dont mind complaining about the $400 oil change that they had done. Granted there are some things on todays engines that requires special equipment and training to fix, changing oil thankfully isnt one of them yet. I still mostly do my own oil changes on my autos and tractor since it is more convenient than going to a dealer or even a quick change (autos only). I find a certain satisfaction in still being able to do the work myself and not letting the dealers take me to the cleaners unnecessarily. There are plenty of issues that the dealers get to make money on without the simple stuff getting in the way.

I dunno, I let the dealer do my oil changes for my truck, it is 2 minutes from work and I cannot change it for 19.95, and every 5th oil change is free

I change oil and filter every 100, and grease everything every 50. In my manual it says in one place to change Hydro fluid and filter every 300 and in another place it says every 400 so I do it every 350.

ToadHill, it's a good idea that you grease everything at least every 10 hours. 50 hours is stretching it a bit. None of my business, just saying.

I have no problem getting your oil changed at a dealership. You just got to pick a good one. The problem is that a lot of places hire the lowest on the food chain for that work. I used to work in a business that performed a service that put me in contact with a lot of places that did that sort of thing. The person who changes your oil may very well be the guy that bagged your groceries last week. The national oil change places have some of the highest turnover of any business I know. I have on two different occasions seen a car pull out of the bay and start to leave with oil streaming out on the ground.

I've posted this info before,that [from a bobcat co rep] the hydro oil is a GL5 rated oil with wet break additive,I think most all GL5 fluid is wet brake rated.I was[offered] this info affter I said if you reguire a special fluid in your eqp. that the magnus-moss act requires you to provide it free of charge,nuff said.Dave
