BX2200s are pretty hot right now. Local dealer wants full list. If I buy from a distant dealer (Carver, et al), will I be a second class citizen when going to local guy for servicing? Any experiences?
I might be willing to get slightly slower service as a trade-off on a $1000-2000 savings. But don't want to get any warranty claims rejected due to "not bought here" attitudes. Again, any experiences?.........thanks, Rich S.

Depends on the dealer. Since people move, most dealers are going to service everything that comes in the door. They are going to take care of their customers first, but most are going to give you as good service as they would anyone else. It just make take a day or two longer.

If you are really ready to buy, you may want to see if your dealer wants the sale. He would be crazy to pass up a deal that is going to be made if he can make any money on it rather than let the deal go. Just be sure you tell him you are ready to sign the contract with him before you leave if he really wants to make the sale. As one dealer said, "I have to make about 10% above invoice (and he showed me the invoice) to stay in business, but I am not going to let a deal go to another dealer if it is a real buyer and they are ready to buy now."

The third thing to consider is most of us PREFER to do the standard services (50 hour, etc) and will likely NEVER have our Kubotas in a dealer for warranty or after warranty work.

Does this mean that Kubota dealers don't need service mechanics, if so, they should be able to sell for less than New Holland, shouldn't they? They weren't able to in my case!

Didn't PaulB's dealer just tell him to bring in his B1700 because the leak down was not acceptable!

Reality check! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

That french blue paint is going to your head now.

I visited the service shops of all of the local dealers for several brands including Kubota, John Deere, and Kubota as well as Massey Ferguson. The Kubota dealer's shop was immaculate and they did not have a single tractor in the shop. They were putting together two more for sale and delivery. They also run a huge rental fleet. Kubota's just don't give much trouble that I can see. Maybe a dealer will read this and comment.

Some of the dealer shops had graveyards for parts out back for those that were not worth fixing, but didn't see that at any Kubota dealers.

I will start another thread on your "leak down" so we don't get this one too far off topic. Seems like every topic turns to OIL and sooner or later someone will make OIL out of BLUE paint if we don't move the leak down topic.

I agree with Wen. I think most dealers would be glad to service your equipment regardless of where you bought it. And JimBinMi, I'm like Wen on the service for Kubotas, too. My first one went back for warranty service to the loader cylinders; nothing else, and my dealer only has two mechanics, and they stay busy working on the Case Internationals and Dixon mowers, which they also sell. I'm sure they must work on Kubotas, too, but I've never seen one in the shop except when they're getting it ready to deliver. The salesman told me 5 years ago, just before I bought my first one, that about the only time they come back for repairs is when you loan it to a friend or neighbor and he turns it over./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Bird, there's a local landscaping company who's hired gorillas turn one over ever couple months. My dealer loves them. He does always check the ROPS for them whenever it comes in for routine service, too.

My dealer places a priority on servicing units he's sold, but he's happy to service anybody's tractor. For a fee, of course. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif But that's the whole idea.

Yeah, I don't think even Kubota will cover roll over damage under warranty./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif That salesman told me they'd had two within a year that the owners had loaned to neighbors who turned them over into the water mowing tank dams. He said one of them had the engine still running until it sucked water into the air intake. And you know what that'll do to an engine./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I work at a R/V dealership and this is how it works at our shop for service.
Customers who bought from us get into the schedule first.
Customers who bought from another dealer get into the schedule second.
That being said I stay booked out six weeks to two months so its the least we can do for our customers.
But we gladly service all units just depends on how long you want to wait for quality work.

Hmmm. I wonder if mowing beside tank or pond banks qualifies as the one time you don't want to be wearing your seat belt? I guess it would still be better to be alive when the tractor stopped underwater, so you could unbuckle the seatbelt and swim free.

Re: Seatbelt

Guys,

I know you say you wear your seatbelts all the time, I don't. When I am on the mighty NH and just mowing lawn only, I don't wear it. My land is mostly flat with just gradual grades. Would you wear it mowing?

I do wear it when using the 3 pt rear scoop and when using the back blade working around my barn - filling and grading outside with some slopes.

Please let me know.
