septic tank question

/ septic tank question #41
Normally when merging into a existing line , A " Wye " is used . Rather than use a 45 or 90 , I would use Wye's , thus You are also adding a clean out at same time .

This is how I added a RV drain to my existing system years ago . Main Line ran East / West , with RV line running North / South . 2 Wye's , with 2 plugs and with the 4"
line , It will handle a full flow RV tank dump with out any issue's .

/ septic tank question #42
We now can put anything into our septic system as the authorities have mandated pumping on a 2 year basis.*

Prior to that I had systems go on forever with careful usage.
One system I had pumped after 20 years of usage due to poor operation only to discover that blockage was due to some female products blocking the main pipe.**

Back when most of us created septics we followed some government guide lines, low flush loos (we used trailer toilets) showers vs baths, white single ply TP, plus simple education via lectures from a gov't sponsored speaker. (we have a very active owner's assoc)

*only a certified pumper can be employed and he must notify the city upon completion.
Seasonal users are allowed to pump at 4 years.
Fines are considerable and city can actually evict you if non complient.

** and that was a DIY, hand dug installation (and still A1), today we are lucky to create a system under $25,000. what with Bionest, EquoFlo and even computer monitored systems that are the system du jour.
