Well I never thought it would happen to me, but I want a bigger tractor. :) I have a BX1500 with an LA181 FEL (with toothbar), and 54"MMM. I am located in South Central PA, and have just put it in the paper and craigslist for $10,000 obo. It only has 111hrs on it. I am trying to make the new machine as affordable as possible. What are your thoughts about the asking price?

Did you ask any dealers what the trade-in value might be on the bigger tractor? This would provide an idea of the lower bound value of your BX.

A like new BX1500 with loader and middle mower is worth $10,000, but that figure by itself is pretty frightening to most people. We tend to think in terms of bang for the buck, and most think of 15 hp as too little bang for 10 grand, without understanding what kind of work that little pack mule can actually perform. If I were selling it I would start my price at $9850. Seems many many dollars less than that 10 thousand sounding number. Works for the car dealers and Walmart.

Lets not forget that not too long ago, 15HP would be quite a bit for a tractor MUCH larger than the BX1500 (B6100/7300? Heck the early L series only had 21HP.) For the size of machine, 15HP is a lot.

Bear in mind also that this is DIESEL HP, not gasoline. The folks that are balking at the price should compare it to a gasoline engine with not less than 25HP. That would make a difference in the cost comparison.

I agree with the 15hp diesel comparison. When you couple that with 4wd and a strong tranny, you get a lot of grunt out of 15hp. I have had a few calls about it so far. One visit in person. I hope it sells. If not, I still have a great tractor.:)

I was reading a couple of weeks ago that there is a pair of them available for $5700. Nobody seems to know where though.

At that price I'd say they're gone by now, besides that price was probably a special limited time offer.

Here is the thread... everybody can form their own opinion.

Yes, they were on display right next to the unicorns and Cub 2554's with locking differential.

Just out of curiosity...now that they are certainly gone because they were a 'limited time offer', would it be possible to share the dealership's name so Mr. AndyM can swing by and see if they are, indeed, gone? Sounded like he really wanted to check it out.

Hey Brown,

With over 5000 posts, and intimate knowledge of the $5,700 BX, why do you continue to ignore earnest requests for the dealer info? You know, the purpose of this community is to share info, yet when poor old Andy M dang near begged you for the dealers name, you ignored him. What's your contribution here, besides using bandwidth?

Andy knows where I am and who my dealer is
If he's really serious about a new or used BX1500 or BX1850 all he has to do is call that and / or any other dealer and tell them what he's looking for and ask them to contact him if they come across something.
*Tasteless worthless personal attacks like this that accomplish nothing and detract from the value of the forums really irritate me.
I did not attack you therefore I expected the same courtesy from you.

I did sell the tractor. In it place I go the following.

BX1850 for pulling a wagon
BX1500 (new) for with 54" mower for the lawn.
BX2350 (used) for plowing snow
Cub Cadet 2554 for blowing snow
Ford 8N for tilling
Deere 2320 just to sit on and drink beer

Actually (for the rest of you). I got a used Deere GT235. I only need one tractor for my 2 acres. :D
