Self-stick floor tiles

I would consider a 'floating floor' long before I would think about self stick tiles.

Like others I would recommend the floating vinyl flooring. HD carries two type, the grip strip, like others have used or the click lock, like wood laminate connection but completely vinyl. You'll pay roughly $1.75-2.50 sq. ft for the aforementioned materials.

The self adhesive tiles that are either 12x12 or 12x24 will stay adhered in some conditions but most flooring is not perfectly flat clean plywood or unstained concrete. If I did use the self adhesive, I would certainly roll it to adhere it better.

The self sticks seem to often "shrink" and you get gaps on the edges. Even if they are well stuck. If you are doing the glue down then go ahead and buy the glue in buckets, trowel it on, THIN THIN THIN by using the correct notched trowel and being careful to put it on THIN THIN THIN and use a heavier duty glue down tile. Floating floor products work fine. Any imperfection on the existing floor will often transfer thru the new floor product depending on the size of the imperfections. A thin coat of floor leveler is fast and goes far.

Sheet vinyl is much better, waterproof, and easier and quicker to install. The shrinking of stick tiles is true. I have a wooden floor on non climate controlled space and they've shrunk and cupped some so the edge of the adjacent tile will snag your shoe and eventually pop up.
