If all you're looking for is a mower and snowblower, you might be better served by a snapper. It all depends on what your needs are. I have a very steep hill to mow and I wanted some of the other implements that BCS offers so that's what I got. But......Of all the the things it does great, so far the mowing isn't one of them.
I love the brush hog and I use the cart and the
chipper/shredder all the time. But, I'm still trying to get the tire combination for my steep hill. I got the turf tires because they said the tractor tires would not be good because the primary use is mowing. The turf tires were small and just didn't get the bite I needed. I put ATV tires on and that helped a lot because they did grab better and I got better clearance for obstacles and grade changes.
Even with the ATVtires, it's a battle to keep the machine on the hill. If the ground is too soft, the tires start tearing up the turf. If you're bagging, the weight of the debris in the bagger works against you also. I've been contemplating wider tires and/or duals but I've spent too much on it this year already.
If it weren't for the hills I don't think I'd have complaints at all. Although, it was the hills that got me looking at it. Otherwise, I probably would have bought a CUT. I've had my dad's CUT on the flatter parts of my yard and I don't feel safe there. And I grew up mowing pasture in Western PA.
I should say that the BCS 38" finish mower does a great job. It's just difficult to use on hills. But, if it weren't for the hills, and you're just looking for a walk behind mower, you could get a 48" commercial dual hydro for the same price. And snapper has a snowblower for theres. BUT....you couldn't pull a cart, or run a tiller or
chipper/shredder/ or brush hog, and certainly not a hay baler. Yes, a hay baler. The attachments that are available for these things are incredible. Although, you can get the same ones for a CUT. They'lll just be more expensive and you won't be able to take them off level ground.(sorry guys, but when I'm talking level ground, I'm talking 15 degrees or less. I'm working with up 40 degrees. Yes, I've measure it)
Sorry if it's long winded but I've learned a lot about this topic since getting my BCS. There's barely a week that goes by that I don't have it out working. That will most likely continue through the winter because a I got a blade and I'm working on a snow blower now.
I just have to build a shed now so I can get all of this out of the garage and my truck back in it!
