It took me under a minute to cut this 3/8 chain with my cordless grinder. And my 10 year old cordless grinder is far from the biggest baddest ones of today. It would take nearly as long to cut 5 zip ties with a pocket knife. I see lots of things chained up but it’s a false sense of security. Pay your insurance and move on with life. IMG_0627.JPG

True but I still prefer a chain, lock and good insurance. Makes me feel better.

Everyone knows that's true; a well-prepared and determined thief is going to get whatever they're after. Fortunately, most thieves are not in that category. A lock, chain, or whatever security device is going to keep any wandering crackheads or derelict teens from wandering away with my stuff.

True bit it makes a lot of noise. Noise is worse than lights to thieves. It often brings angry folks with guns or even cops.

Nobody really wants to do much to protect their stuff. That's the bottom line. Have a hidden switch. When turned on, the horn blows, instead of the starter operating. Every little bit to mess up the criminals normal course of action helps and often works.

I once had to park my new truck somewhere I was not comfortable with. I got one of those heavy (like 1/2") 70 grade chains and heavy padlocks and chained up the brake peddle and steering wheel. MOST car and truck thieves probably don't carry a grinder!

Professional equipment thieves likely have this-

What does a thief not want to hear while he is fumbling with all these keys? The sound of a pump action shotgun being racked.

edit...or, if they have good ears, just hearing the safety clicking off.

As for the keys, that has to be a scam. That would be a couple of bucks a piece. Few locksmiths even have all those equipment keys.

Nope. Not if you read all the excellent reviews on Amazon. 24 Keys for $48

Here is one 5 star review

Whether you operate, transport, service, own or store heavy equipment, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing keys from Tornado. Can you imagine $2 per key? Compare that to just ONE key from a manufacturer. It's a crazy good deal. I chose the 21-key set, but they have lots of choices. The smaller sets may satisfy all your needs. No nonsense deal, quick shipping. Very satisfied.
