I have been reading all that I can on the various forums about the BX series tractor and now I am in a quandry as to whether the price the dealer is giving me on a new BX22 is the "right" price or not. He has agreed to fill the rear tires and weld on some bucket hooks in the deal. The question is...... what is a good price for the basic BX22 TLB with a 60 MMM, 4 way front valve. I am also getting the second set of bar tires and wheels. All total to $17900 after aproximately a 8% discount...... is this a good or should I keep looking??? thanks

Junkman,
at end of June I bought from my semi-local dealer as follows ( I have two dealers within 20 miles.)

BX22 +60" MMM, filled bar tires $16,100
turf tires + wheels 300
woods loader toothbar 275

The other dealer was very close in price, but I liked this dealer better.

IMHO, I think I would get a second opinion....

Bear in mind that these machines were in very short supply at the time, doubt if availability is better now. I got lucky, they found my BX at another dealer about 1 hr away and got it for me. I did have to wait for about 5 weeks for the mower to come in, about 3 weeks for the 2nd set of tires and toothbar.

I can't tell where you live from your bio, but this may be important. From reading on this forum, I found that different parts of the country seemed to have different price expectations, generally the NorthEast seemed quite a bit higher.

I really love my BX, hope it works out for you.

I purchased my BX-22 the last week of August (just caught the end of the 0% financing). I was working with 2 dealers; one quoted $17,900 for a BX22 with 60" MMM; Other quoted $18,000 with 60" MMM. Both dealers were in CT. I also got a quote from a dealer in Southern NY and he quoted $18,500 for the setup (one in stock) plus $400 for delivery, plus an extra 2.5% sales tax. This brought the NY tractor over $20K.

I ended up with the $18,000 dealer, only because the tractor was on his lot. Put the deposit down on Monday, signed the papers on Tues, riding the tractor on Tuesday night. Only thing the dealer did not have was a 60" MMM in stock. Still waiting for that unit to come in (due end of Sept).

I am also in New England....... based on what you paid, then my deal is a sound one....... just didn't understand the wide disparity between prices that have been posted in the past. Some of them were two years old and I assume that there was some price increases since then...... thanks for the input.

Today I made the leap and placed the order for a new one just the way that I want it to be. I looked at a 2002 used BX22 from a private owner that had 28 hours on it, but it had a bad dent on the side of the front bucket...... and about a 2" tear. Ran well after we removed the mouse nest from the engine. He hasn't used it for a couple of months.... had more mud on it than a mud wrestler after a 10 round bout. I think that the tractor would clean up and the damage could be repaired, but with only one year remaining on the machine and the savings didn't add up. I decided that it just wasn't worth it for me. It had a dent on the hood also that detracted from it. 3 way loader valve and I wanted a 4 way, 10" hoe bucket and I want a 12"..... He is asking $15,500 for the machine.

Sounds like the private sale tractor was used pretty hard for it's relatively short life. I wouldn't have taken the chance on it either for the price difference.

I picked up my new tractor yesterday and brought it home..... Cut the grass today and removed a few large rocks with the bucket that were already out of the ground. I pop them out in the spring when the ground is soft and wet and wait for the warmer months to cart them away...... this year they stayed a little longer than usual. No problems so far, but it does have one quirk..... I had a full tank of fuel, but the gage only registered 3/4.... after mowing it was at 7/8 and then when I parked it it was at 1/2....... are they just inaccurate or is mine have a mind of its own...... Thanks to all for the help with the decision to buy Orange, the real thing.

Sharp tractor! There has been a few posts about this issue. I think most people with this problem have had it fixed under warranty.
