After about 3 years of collecting sandstone blocks from wherever I could find them cheap, we are finally going to get started on a major construction project involving cutting out an old wood retaining wall, moving the hillside back about 10 feet, regrading the upper area, and building a barnstone retaining wall. Yesterday, I used the DX 29 to sort the smaller stones so the contractor can more easily find and pick out the ones to use as the wall comes together.

I spent about 4 or 5 hours with the loader and grapple picking apart the pile of stone blocks. Even with 900 lb on the hitch and 130 on each rear wheel, the back end tended to get light now and then moving the "small' stones, which vary from about 6" x 2' x 4' to 2' x 2' x 2 1/2' blocks. The bigger ones came from a state highway bridge and are too big to even fit in my 60" bucket, let alone pick up, although I did manage to push them around some.

Anyways, it sure felt good to be burning diesel again. One of my former students will be here early in the week with a backhoe, excavator, and maybe a skid steer. They will also get some use of the DX, particularly with the grapple making it nice for lifting the smaller stones. Should be an interesting project.

Yes, I will be taking some pics.

I will get some seat time today also. No projects are large as yours but it is nice to run her. Will take the chains off the tires, back weights off and loader. Have to tipp up my tiller as it tipped over.

Have fun.
