seat suspension

I have a Mitsubishi 2201 with a stock seat. The only suspension is two rubber bumpers on the back of the seat. I started to buy a shock absorber seat from Northern, but it was 20 inches wide, while mine is only 17 inches wide. The extra three inches would interfere with my ability to use the lift control and the lower gear lever.

How can I customize a spring or shock mechanism for my old seat or purchase one that is 17 inches wide?

This place should have a seat that will fit. They don't list seats for a Mitsubishi, but they do give specifications for most of them. K & M Manufacturing

Thanks. I would have never found such a specific site in my computer searches. I emailed them my specifications.

I would like to build some type of suspension and use my good seat. Any ideas?

No, but they also have separate suspensions.

Welcome to the net, Jim,
Look at the inexpensive riding lawn mowers, with the hinged front, and a couple of coil springs on the back. Our Jimna was a rigid mounted seat, and we modified the front mounts to pivot, and found the springs that sort of matched my weight. A couple of hours project, and very happy with the softer ride.
