The seat on my tractor (used tractor) was left in the tough Texas sun for 3-4 years. The "covering" has cracked and is starting to peel off. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Buy a new seat cushion. I live close to a general supply type store and they carry a huge assortment of replacement seat covers. It's cheap, it's easy and you seat looks and feels like new when your done.

For replacement seats you can check out Notrhern Tool and Equipment Company at www. northerntool .com They have a large selection of replacement seats.

You might also want to check with the dealer for your tractor. Factory replacement seat covers are usually available. Alot cheaper than a whole seat.

Check to see if the seat is 'skinable', and is one of the ones held on by a removeable spine. Many tractors have those.. the vinyl skin will have premolded foam pressed tot he back. You remove the old, lay the skin on your seat frame, slide the spine on, and trim the overhang with a razor.

Next advice is to use a seat cover or cushion, or then.. repalce the seat.. etc.

I'm thinking by now Bob that you already have a new seat on the way to you from NH.

Nope, but I can tell you, the wife is making a seat cover. I suggested Blue and White with some nice logo. I don't think that will happen :D .

Bob if my wife was doing the stiching I would be darn happy to not have a sharp spring jabbing me in the you know where when she was finished. ;)

Do what I did...
Marry a sweet girl whose family is in the auto upholstery business.
I had the seats (2 buckets) and front carpet redone in my 66 chevy and it only cost me $40 for the materials. My FIL did them at her uncles shop before he passed away. They looked like I was a paying customer!

I bought a really nice seat from Tractor Supply two years ago on sale that is adjustable and it has fold down arm rests for under $100.00. I sure did look funny going down the highway with it strapped onto my GoldWing. I just checked TSC and do not see that seat being carried by them now.

I wonder if you could get a can of that stuff you dip plier/tool handles in to rubberize them and just paint it on over a seat like that. Might be a cheap redneck fix.
