sears super 12, replaced head gasket, got this thing all put back together, everything hooked up, but it will start but acts like it has trouble doing so. will crank, but very slowly as if it isnt getting enough juice. i have a everstart 350 cranking/275 cold cranking battery on it. does it need more? i hook the battery charger up to it and it does improve until the charge wears down. (battery charger is small)

You don't say how old the battery is.. If it's a couple years old, i may just be getting tired, or just from setting a while. Mine on my Wheel Horse is that way. I'll get a new one in the spring. But for now, I just jump it, or put the charger on. With the charger set at 10 amp charge, even after 10 minutes, it rolls over slow, but enough to start. Kick it up to 40 amp, and it spins it over fine.

It will stay up long enough, that if I take a break while mowing, it will restart.

Maybe try jumping off a car or truck..?? That should let you know if your battery is getting weak...

Just a thought...

you dont say if you were having trouble with it cranking before the new head gasket. A new head gasket would make no difference in its cranking, so you probably have either a weak battery or a dragging starter. also check all battery connections, make sure all is making good contact with a real good ground. zman
