Searching for starter or part number

I bought a yanmar fx16d (from what I can tell). Engine block has n75u on the side, head has tn75. I am on starter number 4, none of them will engage the ring gear, or even bolt on, it is a 3 cylinder. I have couple starter right now, 1 with 9 tooth and the other with 11 tooth drive gear.

to say as engines usually have only ONE starter.

I am thinking i will end up modifying the starter that I have, machine the mounting flange by 5 mm to allow the drive to engage with the ring gear

They changed up the drive gear to a 9 tooth as replacement, i don't have the original starter to find a new one to match it exactly, but they have a number of different starter depending on application, cause the block is used in marine, industrial, more. Each company who uses this block made there own bell housing plate for there application

I have a starter with a 9 tooth gear that will bolt up but not engage the ring gear when trying to start it. The other starter that I have is 11 tooth drive gear that will fit the mounting hole but not bolt up or engage the ring gear.
I tried a starter for john deer 855 (same block) , not even close to fitting.

Nearly solved my problem, got starter turned down, drive gear engages the ring gear now, just have to figure out the mounting bolt hole, got a spreader clamp holding starter in place, but still have not seen it start, it is making smoke.
