I have 1200 sq ft of grout to seal. I've been looking up hoping that I can just take a mop and sealer and go. However, I'm finding for glazed tile I have to grout each seam. I need to do it this weekend as its going on the rental market Monday.

My knees hurt thinking about it. Anyway know an easier way?

there is no reason to not use a mop. thats what we did every year with no problems....

One of the guys I know uses a "wiper" for lack of a better word.
he pours the sealer on the far side and then pulls the sealer to him all the way across..
But when we did our shower and floors we used a mop..

the only push back or down side I got from anyone was that some sealers wil put a milky look on the tile.... BUT that is based on the color of the tile and the type of sealer..

Later,
J

When I rebuilt one of our bathrooms this past spring, I wondered the same thing. On the walls, I first tried using a foam paint brush to get the grout lines. I discovered using a rag soaked in sealer worked the best. I put on 2 coats. So, what the guys said about a mop or wiper makes sense for large areas.

Thanks guys, I've delayed putting it on the rental market. Tomorrow to get the windows measured to order blinds, inexpensive ones. I usually do that stuff and put them up but not this time. Then the grout sealing, then lay about 10 pavers yet and I'm done. Hope to do all that this week.

I put it up for sale just for the heck of it. Lookers but no offers, its a shame as its in excellent condition, but prices here like elsewhere are dropping like a rock and I'm trailing. So be it, bought it to rent anyway.

To see it look at HAR listing number 75610476. I'm lowering the price this week to $89,900. We have a couple of showings this week I beleive, so not till after that. Then will put on rental market for $900, one a street over same size rented for that, that will do fine.

I'm going to try it in a closet and see how it works. The tile has a sort of hazy look anyway so likely will do fine. Will sure save my knees even with pads.

Here is a picture of the tile floor, all new baseboards also.

Ronbo...a paint roller is a great idea! I did not think of that. Next time, I will use a roller.

Great looking floor Patriotic! There's more work involved with tile than most people think.

A friend of my carpenter put in the tile, did a really good job of it, also backsplash and surrounds in the bathtubs.

Today I sealed all but one bedroom, ran out of stuff and knees. I tried the mop deal, had to buff those or it looked like streaked mopping. So I had one bottle with a brush top and kept refilling and using it. Worked out well. Want to put two coats on the kitchen and bathrooms, that's where mold or stuff seems to got on the grout the worst.

I'm pooped. Measuring for blinds tomorrow, in on Monday or Tuesday, he or I usually do them but I'm not this time, I need another pair of hands so will get those done. Have about 8 or so more 40 pound pavers to lay and I'm done. On the rental market Tuesday likely.

Should have got up to the rental duplex today and didn't, in the morning. My one tenant said she had a spot on the ceiling about the size of an orange. Oh great, either AC pan plugged or water leak. Has new pipes, maybe 5 years old so likely the pan, should have gone up today. Clorox and unplugging will do it I'm sure. Then when the spot dries, dab or spray with clorox, if that doesn't make it go away, paint the spot.
