I have a walk behind trimmer but I'm going through the 0.155 line continually.

I'm cleaning up the yard and acreage area after we bought the place from a old farmer. In the latter years it seems he let the weeds (thistle, stink weeds, etc) get away. Some of them have a very healthy stock that just breaks the lines.

I've been thinking about a Scythe - sounds like a lot of work actually.

I've notice on some UK websites that there are multiple blades for the scythe - one for grass / weeds, an another for small saplings and weeds over a year old.

Has anyone used a scythe? If so how did you find getting a hang to the sweeping motion?

Does anyone know of any good suppliers with multiple knives available?

Thanks again

Garth

I have both, and would suggest that you try one of the metal "brush" blades on your trimmer first. I use them even for heavy grass, and can cut much faster, closer, and easier than I can with my sythe.

I have one with a grain blade and aluminum handle. It does require practice plus some physical endurance. Mine was purchased at a local farm supply store.:D :D
