Anyone else interested in scooters? I’m considering an early 60’s Cushman Super Eagle!

I’ve been a motorcycle guy forever and thought this would be fun.

Thoughts/tips??

There have been "Scooter" threads before, check the links below.

With that, I have had a couple of Vespa scooters. Both had "the big engine" 200cc two stroke.
The first one I had for some years, and used it a lot. I even rode it from Miami Fl. to western Montana and back.....in three weeks!
I was younger then. They actually are great long distance machines, and have a respectable GVW.

The second one was a rebuild, having been left sitting at a dealer for about ten years. The flywheel magnets were insufficient to start and run the ignition. A $50 replacement flywheel straightened that out quickly. But tires wheels, cables, and a paint job took some time and effort. It looked good when it was done, and ONLY 79 ORIGINAL miles. It brought a good price from someone "down south". once it was seen in operation. I didn't even advertise. Didn't really want to sell it.

I would have another one in a heart beat. If I didn't have two motorcycles that seem to get ridden less and less each passing year.

I rode a Suzuki Burgman 400cc 'maxi-scooter' for years... I called it my "lounge chair on wheels" as I would regularly ride it with my legs extended (not 'upright' like a smaller scooter). The 400cc CVT gave plenty of grunt and was smooth on the highway.

The Burgman also came in a 650cc CVT version.

I reluctantly sold mine due to Tasmania's annual registration costs = the same as my ute!

My first "vehicle" was a Vespa. Got me and the wife all around Seattle my last year in college.

yamaha rx125 and holda ct110, not quite scooters but pretty small motorbikes.

My first scooter was a Honda @125. The only problem with a smaller scooter is the diameter of the wheels... fine 'around town' but if you get them up above 90kph then a wobble can occur. Add in inclement weather (wind and/or rain) and the wobble can start at lower speeds.

The Burgman 'maxi' had larger wheels = stability.

I started out on a Cushman Eagle, I really don't have any desire to go back! That was probably about 30 or more motorcycles back! lol
